Many injured after crash involving tractor-trailer

On Behalf of | Jun 15, 2017 | Truck Accidents |

People who live in Georgia may often find themselves on the highway and sharing the road with large vehicles, such as trucks. When accidents occur and these big, heavy trucks are involved, the outcome can often be much more serious compared to crashes with smaller cars. Recovery from a truck crash is often lengthy and expensive.

A recent crash in Lawrenceville, Georgia has left 17 injured after the driver of a tractor-trailer failed to stop after traffic in front of him came to a halt. The victims included adults and children. Eight vehicles were reportedly involved in the pileup. While some of the injured were treated at the scene, others were taken to area hospitals. It is not known how serious the injuries victims received were or whether everyone is expected to make a full recovery.

In addition to the injured, one victim died at the scene. The woman’s car became trapped under the tractor-trailer and was on fire when authorities arrived at the scene. It was not reported if the driver of the truck will face charges as a result of the accident. It was also unknown if the driver was distracted or if driver fatigue played a role in the crash.

People with serious injuries often face hefty medical bills, especially if ongoing treatment and therapy are needed. They may also struggle financially if they are unable to work due to their injuries. Those who have been harmed in a crash with a semi truck may wish to consult with an experienced attorney.
