Georgia residents who have been involved in a car accident know how frustrating it can be when the accident was not their fault. Drivers who get behind the wheel while they are intoxicated are a danger to the other people on the road and it is often innocent bystanders who pay the price for their recklessness.
An Acworth man is in jail following a recent accident in Marietta, which occurred on I-75. Due to his behavior and appearance, authorities believe he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the hit-and-run accident. Samples of the man’s urine and blood were taken to be tested. Due to his failure to make child support payments, the man had also lost his driving privileges four years ago. He is facing multiple charges stemming from the incident, including reckless driving and DUI.
The car the man was driving careened off the road toward the guardrail after he rear-ended a car driving in front of him. That caused the driver of the car to then hit a pickup truck. After the crash, the man fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by law enforcement a short time later. It is not known whether either of the other drivers suffered any injuries.
Even a minor accident can cause unseen injuries that may take weeks to appear, and insurance companies do not always have an injured driver’s best interests in mind. Therefore, people who have been involved in a car accident may want to consult an attorney.
